Commercial Director, Programmatic OOH

Role Outline

This is an exciting, dynamic and crucially important role in the GroupM business. Programmatic OOH is a burgeoning area that is in its infancy. It requires vision, passion, and leadership to guide a strong team and product suite already in place into the next chapter of its story.

This role covers all elements of the Programmatic OOH and needs a leader with a diverse and flexible commercial skill set to deliver value to our clients, our people, and our business.  This role will offer immense breadth of experience and exciting opportunities to make your mark in a new and exciting media channel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership
    • Driving revenue growth and continuing to build leading market presence.
    • Providing commercial leadership and setting the strategy for Programmatic OOH and how this fits with the wider business.
    • Playing a key part in defining the vision for Programmatic OOH in Kinetic/GroupM Nexus and the key areas to focus on to drive value for our clients, our business, and keep us leading the market
    • Provide industry thought leadership (conferences, write articles, speak on panels, etc)
    • Provide leadership within the GroupM Nexus/Kinetic business, upskilling others, collaborating with peers to drive client success, and delivering regular comms updates about business unit
  • Commercial
    • Setting annual growth strategy for each GroupM agency in partnership with Xaxis Heads of Agency
    • Collaborating with broader client teams to deliver excellence in response to briefs
    • Managing all billings and commercial targets, and defining strategies to enhance our profitability managing strategies to deliver these.
    • Working in conjunction with Commercial Finance on forecasting and targets.
    • Responsible for managing commercial trackers and comms with senior leadership.
    • Responsible for ensuring that commercials opportunities are connected with Ops reality and that they work seamlessly together.

 

  • Clients
    • Responsible for all senior escalations in relation to client challenges
    • Manage and support senior client relationships where needed
    • Provide guidance and leadership around client tiering, analysis, and best practice
    • Responsible for supporting in pitch scenarios where required
    • Drive the development of commercial Programmatic DOOH opportunities for clients
    • Responsible for engagement and client sales, delegating and managing where needed, across our agencies and direct clients
  • Team Management/Development
    • Providing development opportunities, coaching, and mentoring for the Programmatic OOH team
    • Partnering with Head of Activation to support management of team

 

  • Tech Partners
    • Manage tech roadmap for products/services, ensuring all team requirements are met, bridging gaps where needed
    • Manage senior relationships with all Tech/Data partners
    • Handle all escalations for problems in this area as required
    • Identify new tech partners to work with that will help drive the product forward
    • Work with tech partners as needed to deliver product priorities and competitive advantage
    • Support transition of Tech / Data partner engagement and development

 

  • Media Owners / Trading
    • Collaborating with GM Investment in enhancing senior relationships with Media Owners
    • Working with GM Investment and Trading to define investment strategies

 

  • Product
    • Responsible for identifying new product areas to keep the product market leading and for delivering these features, in tandem with GroupM Nexus product teams.
    • Jointly collaborate with partners across Kinetic and GroupM Nexus to ensure delivery of product priorities and optimal PrOOH and Core OOH positioning.

 

  • Finance and Legal
    • Responsible for ensuring all correct finance procedures followed at all times
    • Work with finance to improve operations and finance processes
    • Responsible for ensuring that all relevant legal/contractual client requirements are met and are appropriate for our products and services

 

  • Cross Business Working
    • Support cross channel delivery of Programmatic OOH with all other GM products and/or requirements
    • Work with other GM products/teams as required to support wider business initiatives

 

  • Global Teams
    • Supporting cross market campaigns where needed with in-market expertise
    • Supporting Global team and other market leads with in-market expertise as needed

  • Desirable Experience and Skills
    • experience working in Ad Agencies, Media Companies, Tech Businesses
    • Experience in the programmatic market is crucial
    • Experience in the OOH space is desirable
    • Must be able to work well in a matrix style organisation
    • Display positive leadership behaviours and demonstrable experience in managing and developing others
    • Experience of working in an Ops environment and an understanding and delivering what these teams require to thrive
    • Understanding of both digital and tradition media
    • Proven capability of leading a team to deliver against targets while also delivering personal targets
    • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, etc) with people from all parts and levels of the business
    • Experience of developing positive and appropriate working relationships with C Suite through to interns
